Sony's New Xperias : Ultra-Loud E1 , Budget T2 Ultra

Sony has launched two new smartphones in the Xperia line: The 4-inch Xperia E1 and the 6-inch Xperia T2 Ultra.

The Xperia E1 has a 4-inch, 480x800 pixel display, a 1.2GHz CPU, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage memory. It also has a 100Db speaker, loud enough that "even a motorcycle won't interrupt your music," Sony claims.

The T2 Ultra is quite a bit more powerful, with a 6-inch, 720p screen, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera, 8GB of storage and LTE support — something which the E1 doesn't have. It also has a much bigger battery than the E1: 3,000mAh vs. 1,700mAh. Both the E1 and the T2 Ultra are available in single- or dual-SIM variants. There's no word on price and availability for both models, all we know is that the T2 Ultra is geared towards China, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa; it probably won't be available in the U.S. Have something to add ? Share it in the comments.

Samsung's much-anticipated Galaxy S5 smartphone, which is rumoured to debut in March, will reportedly come in two variants.

Samsung's dedicated community website, SamMobile, citing reliable sources has confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy S5 will come in two variants - one with a metallic cover costing €800 (around Rs 67,000) and the other in plastic that would be priced €650 (around Rs 54,600).

Both Galaxy S5 models are expected to flaunt a 16.0-megapixel main camera, Super AMOLED screen with QHD (2K) 2560x1440p display resolution (probably 5.25-inch size) and come with Android v4.4 KitKat OS. However, Samsung is expected to use two CPU variants - one with Snapdragon 805 chipset in plastic model and the 64-bit architecture based Exynos 6 Octa-core CPU for the metal variant.

The website said that Samsung's new Exynos series processor will be compatible with 4G/LTE radio, unlike previous generation chipsets which were only used in 3G models. Other key details such as RAM, battery capacity or the much-talked about Iris scan feature are yet to be ascertained .

Apart from Galaxy S5, Samsung is also contemplating to release two more variants - Galaxy S5 Zoom and Galaxy S5 Mini, in May and June respectively. Both models will have Super AMOLED display but with lesser resolution. Their internal hardware components are also expected to be stripped down similar to Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom and Mini smartphones of 2013.

All Apple Apps must be optimised for iOS 7 from 1st Feb 2014

Apple is requiring all apps submitted to its App Store after 1 February 2014 to be optimised for iOS 7 and built using the latest version of the Xcode 5 development framework. The change applies to both new apps and updates.
Over the past few years, Apple has been encouraging developers to support the latest editions of its OS more rapidly.
This is likely to be even more important with iOS 7, which represents the biggest upgrade in terms of functionality between versions of Apple’s mobile OS, featuring a distinct new look that older apps will not fit into.
According to Apple’s developer support centre, 76 per cent of all iOS devices are running the latest version, compared to 20 per cent using iOS 6.
Xcode 5 includes 64-bit support and access to features such as multitasking APIs. An app can be built against the latest version of Xcode without having to be redesigned, according to TechCrunch, but may need to be reworked to function correctly for iOS 7.
