Google to Release Android 5.0 Lollipop

Android Lollipop

Google is expected to launch its new Android update Lollipop at its upcoming Google I/O conference next week, reports say.

The update, which is called Android 5.0 or 4.5, also dubbed Lollipop, will be the successor to Android 4.4 KitKat and unveiled at the conference held June 25 to 26 in San Francisco, according to the International Business Times.

KitKat tackled Android's fragmentation problem and now the latest Android apps work similarly on older devices, mainly to court consumers in the developing world. Now, it's reported that Lollipop will be supporting Project Hera which will "combine Search, Android and Chrome capabilities."

The update should also feature HTML 5 integration, better multiple windows and have a new virtual assistant called OK Google Everywhere.

The move is to make Android more competitive with Apple's iOS by creating a uniform experience, and if the new update does that, it means another year of world dominance.
